Academic Mobility and University Teaching for the Development of Africa
Abstract
This work is produced within the framework of the activities of UNESCO and the International Association of University Professors and Lecturers (IAUPL). It represents a major contribution from IAUPL within the framework of the Participation Program carried out with UNESCO in connection with its African sections. The IAUPL invites academics to reflect on academic mobility and the recognition of university training in the service of African development. The objective is to promote the “Global Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications relating to Higher Education”, adopted by the 40th General Conference of UNESCO according to which academic mobility constitutes an essential element for training, as well as for their recognition. The results obtained served as a reference and a contribution from academics to the Organization and Member States to better assimilate the priorities of academic mobility and the qualification recognition mechanism from the point of view of academics. This work constitutes a contributing reference for a policy of promoting university training in the service of development. The contributors, Professors from 11 European, South American and African countries, bring their expertise to support academics in this field and to associate the approaches to their missions with the new requirements of a constantly changing environment.
