The work of sociolinguists, in particular that of Claude Dubar (1998) and Thierry Bulot (2004), has given rise to the notions of "sociolinguistic memory" and "traces and marks of linguistic mobility". Of "sociolinguistic memory" and "traces and marks of linguistic mobility". While their writings do not address the geographical area or the socio-cultural group studied here, the concepts they use enable us to grasp, through words, the 'traces' and 'marks', as imprints of the memory of the Africans in the Maroon societies of Dutch Guiana in French Guiana.
