Use of remote sensing to map the surface features
Abstract
Using remote sensing we are able to map the potentiality of soils to infiltration and runoff in West Africa. The methodology (Lamachère et Puech, 1995) uses ground data and a two steps image processing ; the first giving primary maps of vegetation, soils and land cover ; the second caracterising each pixel in elementary surface features. Using a GIS also permits to define homogeneous hydrological units.
